Re-Development Blundstone Arena

A Word From Our Chief Executive …

The exciting next phase of development at Blundstone Arena will lift the oval’s status to one of the best boutique sporting venues in Australia, if not the world. The new stand will not only increase the capacity of Blundstone Arena to 20,000 but also house fantastic function rooms, state-of-the-art media and administration facilities along with beautiful public areas. Facilities for players and coaching staff of both cricket and AFL will also be improved with new practice areas, change rooms and coaches boxes to be included in the new stand.

This project will also provide a boost for the Tasmanian construction industry with more than 300 jobs being created over the construction phase and many more generated at the facility when the project is completed due to the greater use of the facility. Perhaps the most exciting part of this phase of the redevelopment is the fact that the new facilities will allow Blundstone Arena to host three matches during the 2015 ICC World Cup, bringing with it tourists to our great state and the flow-on effects tourism provides. Cricket Tasmania greatly appreciates the ongoing support of the State and Federal Governments and especially in relation to the funding assistance both governments have provided to this project.
